About.

Ricky Horning is known to fellow musicians as a creative and versatile drummer who enjoys performing in multiple genres, including jazz, fusion, funk, reggae, prog rock, classic rock, folk, blues, country, alternative, and metal.

Ricky found his love for music at age 12 and has been committed ever since to building solid techniques. His early music education was primarily through the School of Rock in Downingtown, PA, where he also learned keys and bass.  Ricky spent multiple years as a member of the school's house band. After graduating from the program, he taught drums to students during summer camps.

In addition to School of Rock, his experience includes many years as a snare drummer in the Downingtown High School East’s competitive marching band.

While in high school, Ricky also spent four years performing with professional musicians in the pit orchestra as the principal drummer/percussionist for musicals such as Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, and Chicago.

As a continuous learner, Ricky has studied and been mentored by many great professional drummers, such as Philly-area instructor Anthony Cracchiolo and Ryan Berg at the School of Rock.  As a full-time finance student at Penn State, Ricky continues his training under the instruction of Ronen Itzek, NYC-based jazz drummer and composer, and performs with many of the school’s ensembles.

Ricky is based in Pennsylvania. He regularly collaborates and performs with musicians, bands, and jazz ensembles in State College, PA, and the Philadelphia area.
